I am Fay.

I have the wonderful privilege of sharing my life with my husband Peet, daughter Amélie and bulldog Angus.
We live in one of South Africa’s most wonderful cities – Pretoria.

‘I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.’

At heart I am an explorer. I love to travel. Whether it is a visit to a neighbouring town, exploring our beautiful continent in Stoffel (our trusty Landcruiser), or boarding a plane to saunter down the streets of a small European town, travelling makes me happy, extremely happy. I think Sir Richard Burton aptly describes my feelings about travelling:

The gladdest moment in human life, methinks, is a departure into unknown lands.

I love experiencing a destinations’ sights, sounds, smells, and tastes for the first time. I also love food. Nothing makes me happier than discovering a new dish or cuisine. My husband and I enjoy spending our free time in the kitchen cooking and experimenting with new ingredients. This is almost always done with a good glass of wine and G&T in hand.

I am passionate about nature and our planet. Living a sustainable life has always been important to us, but even more so since the birth of our little girl. Over the last few years we have been on a journey to reduce our footprint by using more eco-friendly products, reducing the amount of single-use plastic we use and living by Bea Johnson’s 5 R’s – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rot (compost). Join us on this journey!

I believe in living and experiencing life to the fullest. And sharing it with others. I honestly believe a life that is not shared, is a life that has not been lived. And it is this philosophy that has inspired this blog. Here I share my life, and the things I am passionate about – exciting travel and dining experiences, recipes, great wines and gins and tips for living a more sustainable life.

Looking forward to sharing LIFE with you!
